Description
This selection of live recordings of the fabled Little Bands phenomena finally sees official release. The “Little Bands” scene was a sub scene that occurred as a parallel to the more formalised Melbourne punk scene from 1979-80. They created their own scene at the Champion hotel in Fitzroy, and their sound was a mixture of angular, urgent drum machine rhythms, stabbing synth lines and creepy/witty lyrics, making oddly compelling results.
This project has been created by original members of the Little Bands scene and others, to document this unique Melbourne post-punk underground music phenomenon and fulfil the wishes of Little Bands stalwart Alan Bamford, who spent many hours recording the Little Bands in 1980, and then played these live tracks on his graveyard shift at community radio 3RRR FM.
Limited edition of 100 hand numbered copies , includes glossy full size liner notes booklet with photos and details of bands, and a facsimile copy of the one off Little Bands fanzine “The North Fitzroy Beat”.
