Description
Australian experimental music’s most original voice returns with another sonic koan. Gulbenkoglu’s releases sound like no one else, but he has steadily built his own musical language of obtuse jump cuts, drones, noise, barely-there domestic field recordings, tape work, interspersed with the occasional startling appearance of acoustic instruments. Yet these are just the parts; as with many of his releases, “How To Recognise Time” impacts with the sum of these parts and how they are laid out (in seven parts over one 45 minute track). Close listening leads to confounding yet transcendental rewards.
CD comes housed in 4-panel colour digpak.
