Description
Ernie Althoff first released “Bricklaying” on his 1990 audio cassette Music for seven metal machines (Pedestrian Tapes PX-037, reissued by Shame File Music). In 2022, A Demon Sheen used Althoff’s score to realise a new version, using seven of his own sounding machines as source material. He then made another version, this time using seven of Althoff’s machines, built after 1990.
The work uses all 35 ways of selecting four items from seven, and changeovers are stacked in the manner of laid bricks.
